Our company is a family consulting firm that has been aligning companies with well-fitted group benefits plans for over 30 years.
Unlike other firms, we are dedicated to remaining a hands-on operation with service that is comprehensive and personal. We work closely with you and your staff to ensure that any mystery and confusion surrounding group benefits is dispelled. We have forged solid and amicable relationships with all insurance companies. We know their policies inside and out, tweaking and tailoring them to fit your company’s needs.
Beyond the technical, we think you will really like working with us! We love what we do, so much so that we take care of each plan, each contingency, each phone call, personally. You won’t be passed off, asked for your account number or have to dial an extension. We are at your service and always ready to help.
Carl H Shields, President, has been described by a client as “one of those guys you love to work with,” and “a professional, good communicator.” In addition to having more than 50 years of expertise in the benefits consulting industry, Carl is heavily involved in the community with more than four decades of coaching minor hockey and little league baseball, and sitting on the boards of the Alberta Special Olympics, Recreation For Life Foundation, and the Derrick Golf and Winter Club. He enjoys helping individuals and clients achieve their goals through CHS Benefits Consulting Group, while working alongside his son and daughter in the family business.
Graham H Shields attended the University of Alberta, enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program. He has more than 13 years’ experience in benefits consulting. He joined the firm after spending time in the restaurant industry, making the switch to join the family business and work with the people invested in building long-term relationships with CHS clients. He remains active and community focused, drawing on his time coaching and playing minor hockey, baseball and lacrosse as a youth, and sitting on committees for the Derrick Golf and Winter Club and the Recreation for Life Foundation’s golf tournament.
Leslie Gauchier, Administrative Assistant, completed the LLQP program in 2015 and is proud to be a licensed life insurance and accident & sickness service provider in the province of Alberta. She considers the ability to work with her father and brother to be a wonderful opportunity, and enjoys assisting clients with insurance renewals, working on marketing plans, and introducing new clients to CHS benefit plans, all while building positive and lasting client relationships.
